LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Legal ceremony
● Marriage application properly completed
● Birth certificates of both parties
● Official photo ID of both parties
● Premarital counseling (required talks)
● Prenuptial clinical exams (issued within the last 15 days)
● Medical certificate (issued within the last 15 days)
Note: If the couple has children, the two previous requirements are waived upon presentation of the children's birth certificates.
● Proof of residency (utility bill/address)
● 2 to 4 witnesses with official ID, present on the wedding day (parents cannot serve as witnesses)
● Divorce or death certificates (if applicable). If issued abroad, they must be translated into Spanish by an authorized certified translator.
● For minors, parents must be present with a copy of their official photo ID.
● For foreign nationals, the following are required: marriage permit issued by the National Institute of Migration (INM), proof of legal stay in the country, and birth certificate translated into Spanish by an authorized certified translator.
