MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY IN PUERTO VALLARTA: WHERE TO CELEBRATE “EL GRITO” AND WHERE TO STAY

Destinations Travel Tips
Puerto Vallarta is a destination that combines beaches, mountains, and gastronomy. Its cobblestone streets, unforgettable sunsets, and welcoming atmosphere create the perfect setting for a trip with your partner, friends, or family. In September, the city comes alive with music, color, and Mexican pride.

Here you will find three must-see places to visit in Puerto Vallarta, where to celebrate “El Grito,” and two options for your stay.

Puerto Vallarta: three must-see places

Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón. This waterfront promenade is one of the city’s most iconic attractions. Along the way, you can admire sculptures, visit shops, sample the local cuisine, and stop at Los Arcos, one of the best-known gathering places downtown.

Zona Romántica and Los Muertos Beach. South of downtown lies Zona Romántica, a relaxed neighborhood with cobblestone streets, galleries, shops, cafés, and restaurants. During your visit, you can explore Los Muertos Beach and its colorful pier, where boats depart for different beaches.

Los Arcos de Mismaloya. These rock formations rising from the sea are located south of Puerto Vallarta and are part of one of the most recognizable natural landscapes in Banderas Bay. You can discover them on a boat tour or explore their waters while snorkeling or scuba diving.

Where to celebrate “El Grito” in Puerto Vallarta?
The celebration of Independence Day takes place in Plaza de Armas and along the Malecón, across from City Hall. Every September 15, people gather to enjoy music, dancing, live performances, and traditional Mexican snacks.

The traditional civic ceremony is held at City Hall, followed by fireworks that light up the bay. The celebration continues along the Malecón in an atmosphere filled with music and Mexican pride.
