The main celebration of Independence Day is traditionally held at the plaza outside Zihuatanejo City Hall. Every September 15, people gather to enjoy a popular celebration featuring music, artistic performances, and traditional Mexican snacks before the civic ceremony.
The traditional ceremony honoring the heroes who fought for Mexico’s independence and freedom is held from the main balcony of City Hall. Afterward, the festivities continue in an atmosphere filled with music and Mexican pride.
