September 07 2026
Destinations Travel Tips
Ciudad Juárez is a destination where Mexican history meets border life and desert landscapes. Its museums, monuments, and cuisine offer a different kind of trip for couples, friends, and families. In September, the city comes alive with music, color, and Mexican pride to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.

Here you will find three must-see places in Ciudad Juárez, where to celebrate “El Grito,” and one option for your stay.

Ciudad Juárez: three must-see places

Samalayuca Dunes. Approximately 31 miles south of Ciudad Juárez, you will find this landscape formed by vast sand dunes. The wind constantly reshapes them, creating an ideal setting for taking photographs, sandboarding, riding in all-terrain vehicles, and stargazing.

Museo de la Revolución en la Frontera. Known as MUREF, this museum is housed in the former Border Customs House in downtown Ciudad Juárez. Its exhibitions explore the region’s role during the Mexican Revolution and the events that transformed the country’s political and social life.

Ciudad Juárez Art Museum. Designed by architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, the museum stands out for its distinctive circular architecture and hosts exhibitions of contemporary art by Mexican and international artists.

In 2026, the celebration of Independence Day will once again take place in the area surrounding Monumento a las Banderas, near the Córdova-Américas International Bridge.

On September 15, people will gather to enjoy music, live performances, and traditional Mexican snacks before the civic ceremony. Afterward, the celebration will continue in an atmosphere filled with Mexican pride.
