LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Legal Ceremony

● Completed marriage license application.
● Intending spouses must present their birth certificates.
● Intending spouses must present an official identification with their photograph.
● Prenuptial counseling.
● Prenuptial clinical exams (valid for no longer than 15 days).
● Medical certificate (valid for no longer than 15 days).
● If you have children and provide their birth certificates, the previous two stipulations will be not be required.
● Proof of residency.
● 2 to 4 witnesses with official identification present at the wedding. (Parents are ineligible to act as witnesses)
● In case of divorce or widowhood for either intending spouse, provide documentation as proof.
● If the documentation was issued abroad, it must be translated into Spanish by a specialized translator.
● For minors, parents are required to appear and bring a copy of their official identification with their photograph.
● If one of the intending spouses is a foreigner, the following is required: a marriage permit issued by the Mexican Immigration Institute, proof of lawful stay in the country, and a birth certificate translated into Spanish by a specialized translator.
